Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups yellow cornmeal
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup sugar
1 Tablespoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 egg, beaten
1 1/2 cups milk
1 Tablespoon vegetable oil
1 package Hot Dogs, 10 count
10 wooden skewers (We used chop sticks.)
Vegetable Oil for frying
derection :
Mix all the dry ingredients. In a separate bowl beat the egg and add the other liquids, mix and combine with the dry mixture.
Pat the hot dogs dry and then gently push the wooden skewers about three fourths of the way through them.
Pour the batter into a glass. This makes it super easy to coat the hot dog.
Coating the hot dog with just a little flour also helps the batter stick.
Coat the hot dog with the breading and then transfer it directly to a pot of oil heated to 350 degrees.
I use a cheap candy thermometer to get temperatures right when I’m frying. Fry the corn dogs for about 3 minutes turning as needed until they are golden brown.
Place on a paper towel lined plate. Repeat until all the corn dogs are made and fried.
Heat up Hormel chili sauce to a boil
Spread 5 cheese mix on top
Stick back in oven for a couple minutesto melt the cheese….
